Diwali Essay; In today’s article, we will learn about Diwali Essay. Like Eid for Muslims and Christmas for Christians, Diwali is one of the biggest festivals of Hindus. It is a festival of light and happiness and peace. It falls in the month of October or November. This festival is celebrated all over India and in some other countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar etc.

This festival is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Rama from exile after fourteen years. He came back to Ayodhya on the same day. The people of Ayodhya lit lamps to welcome him.

Preparations for the celebration of this festival begin long in advance. People clean and paint their houses. Businessmen clean their offices, shops and godowns. Everyone is happy on the day of Diwali. Children buy different types of crackers and sweets. Many delicious dishes are prepared. In the evening, everyone worships Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. Everyone prays for wealth and prosperity. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi visits us during Diwali. Children let off crackers. Diyas and lamps are lit. Nowadays electric lights and lamps are used for decoration of houses.

Some people celebrate this festival in the right way. But, some people indulge in gambling and drink alcohol on the occasion of Diwali. Many children get injured while bursting crackers. The smoke and noise of crackers affect elderly people and small children. Sometimes shops and houses catch fire. This causes a lot of damage to life and property. So we should be careful while bursting crackers.

Diwali is a festival of light and joy. We should not spoil it by any wrong act. A little care and sensitivity can bring happiness and peace to all in Diwali.
